In 1906, when Willard Northup opened his one-man architectural practice in Winston-Salem, NC, he probably was not planning to start a legacy; he just wanted to design good buildings. Since then, ownership and fundamental beliefs about the practice of architecture have been transferred within the firm through direct experience and personal relationships built over time. This direct transfer of knowledge and values is what has allowed CJMW Architecture to maintain consistent standards of architectural design and client satisfaction over many years. In fact, the firm has worked with some clients over a span of decades.
The firm’s most recent evolution is one of simplification – from Calloway Johnson Moore & West to CJMW Architecture. The new name reflects the growth of the firm. CJMW Architecture is the same group of talented people focused on great design and client service, just with a name that is easier to say.
