CJMW is delighted that two of our recent projects, the Village at Brookwood (Burlington, N.C.) and Immanuel Lutheran Communities (Kalispell, Mont.), have been recognized for outstanding design for senior living. Both are featured in the Environments for Aging annual design issue.

Brookwood challenged the CJMW team to re-imagine the dining area, which had been unchanged since its 2003 opening. The resulting project created more welcoming, flexible spaces that accommodate residents’ varying needs for both formal and informal eating areas as well as gathering spots. Read more about the project here.

ILC asked CJMW Architecture to plan and design a major phased expansion. Along with local firm MMW Architects, CJMW’s plan added new independent living and memory care residences along with renovated common areas that included a 150-person chapel/auditorium, fitness area and pool. The amenities are completely interconnected so that residents can access all without facing harsh weather. More information about the project is here.
