project story
Galloway Ridge is a non-profit Life Plan Community located in Fearington Village, a planned community in Pittsboro, NC. The 50-acre community opened in 2006 and was quickly fully occupied. A year later, Galloway Ridge reached out to CJMW to help the community develop a master expansion plan and design its implementation.
A key focus for the new phase was the expansion of the existing health and wellness centers as well as accommodating additional new residents. The final plan called for a new independent living apartment building, an addition to the health center including skilled nursing and memory care as well as multi-family with services units, renovation and expansion of the common areas, an expansion of the existing wellness Center, and several support buildings.
The community’s focus on health and wellness includes a new outpatient clinic and therapy suite developed in conjunction with Duke University’s medical system.
The design of the new buildings echoes that of the existing campus but incorporates an additional level of detailing. Working within tight site limitations to seamlessly expand the existing campus, CJMW planned for the work to be completed in phases to minimize disruptions to residents and operations.
